The first two "busts" that popped into my head were August and King.
I don't consider Bosworth and McIntosh true busts because I can't hold career-ending injuries against someone. I know that Niehaus had multiple injuries that led to him calling it quits, but the following year had a bigger bust: Steve August. The Hawks traded their pick to the cowboys, so that Dallas could pick Tony Dorsett. August had to live up to not being Tony Dorsett. Remember Patera wearing the "I sleep with the cowboys" t-shirt? Man, that sucked.
After the Hawks traded away thier first round pick in 1985, they took Owen Gill, he was supposed to be an insurance policy in case Curt Warner couldn't return to form. Gill never made the team, that sucked also.
The biggest bust had to be McGuire. Chuck Knox always announced his team's first round picks. Until McGuire. When asked why he didn't announce the pick, Knox said that he,"wanted the kid from Mississippi." So not only did Behring force Seattle to draft McGuire instead of Favre, but it paved the way for Flores to fire Knox, replace him, and start the dark ages. Thanks, Dan. You shoulda roided up too.

By the way... if I'm not mistaken, Brett Favre went to the Falcons early in the second round after we took McGwire at 16. Wound, salt. Salt, wound.

Couldn't agree more with Tom - the other busts were circumstantial... injuries, addictions and attitude problems. But they all could play. McGwire's career never got off the ground and Mirer only played because management had to save face. They sucked, and that's that.
