Bobby Engram was a great player for the Seattle Seahawks: very productive, a consummate professional, and a good presence in the locker room. He has recently moved on (to Kansas City), but his presence is still being felt in the Pacific Northwest.
In 2007, Bobby Engram started his own foundation with the purpose of helping find a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia – the same disease that afflicts his daughter. The Bobby Engram Foundation has been successful in raising awareness of the disease, and will continue the pursuit for a cure.
Next weekend, the Bobby Engram Foundation will be hosting its second annual celebrity softball game with the intention of raising funds and awareness. All proceeds from the event will benefit Sickle Cell Anemia research.
The event will take place on June 13th (Saturday) at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington from 12 pm – 6 pm. In addition to Bobby Engram, there will be a multitude of current and former Seahawks in attendance, as well as other NFL players, NBA players, and local celebrities.
Some of the names that highlight the list of celebrities who will participate: Nate Burleson, Deion Branch, Marcus Trufant, Deon Grant, Seneca Wallace, Aaron Curry, Deon Butler, Leonard Weaver, Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford, Kevin Burleson, and many more.
Tickets can be purchased a number of ways, and will be extremely worth the price of admission. Including entertainment value, the entire event is for an amazing cause. The prices range from $10-45, and higher prices include additional benefit besides a better view. The $45 VIP box seats include an exclusive autograph session one hour prior to the event, an all-inclusive BBQ, and an event souvenir. For more details, visit the Bobby Engram Foundation website.
If you’re able to make it down to Tacoma next weekend for the event, it will be a great time. There isn’t anything better than having fun and supporting a good cause. I’ll be in attendance, and I hope to see the 12th Man pack Cheney Stadium.
Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, June 6th), Bobby Engram will make an appearance on a radio show dedicated to Seattle Seahawks football. Engram will hop on around noon (PDT) and will be giving away prizes, including free tickets to the event, an autographed football, an autographed football helmet, and more. I will be participating in the interview, so make sure to give the show a call for an opportunity to talk with Bobby or potentially win a prize!
The radio show can be heard at www.blogtalkradio.com/12thman, or by clicking here. The phone number to call in is (646) 716-7083.
I hope to hear from everyone tomorrow at noon, and see everyone June 13th at Cheney Stadium!
