Jackie Battle, Meet Aaron Curry

Here is an exciting clip of what we should see a lot of during the regular season. A quick preview of what can happen when Aaron Curry starts reacting to what is happening on the field (as opposed to thinking).

Seahawks Trim Roster

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

By Tuesday, teams around the league must cut their roster down to 75 players. The Seahawks started early, cutting four players from the roster on Sunday. These cuts are only the first round; by September 5, the roster must be trimmed even further to 53 players. In other words, the front office will be extremely busy this week. Of the four cuts made Sunday, there aren’t any huge surprises. Seattle waived defensive tackle Kevin Brown, fullback Dan Curran, linebacker Shane Simmons, and tight end John Tereshinski. Not one of the four players stood out (to me, at least) during any [...]

Edgerrin James: Successful in Seattle?

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

What should we expect from Edgerrin James in Seattle? If history is any indicator, we shouldn’t expect much. James is 31 years old and entering his eleventh season in the National Football League. The Seattle Seahawks brought in James to revive a rather stale running game and released the ineffective T.J. Duckett. But how effective will James be in Seattle? Does James have enough left to restore a running threat that has been pretty nonexistent since 2005? No, probably not. Fortunately, most fans in Seattle aren’t expecting James to make a huge impact. He’ll help, but only in a complementary [...]

T.J. Duckett Out, Edgerrin James In

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

So the Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran running back Edgerrin James. This is a move that was somewhat unexpected, but wasn’t a complete surprise after watching the running backs struggle early. James, 31 years old, was released by the Arizona Cardinals after they drafted Chris Wells in April. James lost carries to Tim Hightower last season and became expendable as the Cardinals developed more depth at the position. Last season, James rushed the ball 133 times with an average of 3.9 yards per carry. He has nearly 3,000 attempts rushing in his career that dates back to 1999. This addition [...]

Grey Ruegamer Waived

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Seahawks waived guard Grey Ruegamer today, replacing him by claiming Brian De La Puente, a versatile offensive lineman from Kansas City. It is likely that Ruegamer, who had just recovered from an elbow injury, was replaced because of his inability to stay healthy. He struggled to stay on the field during training camp and was unable to play in exhibition games against San Diego and Denver. Grey Ruegamer played along the interior of the offensive line, but has not been much of a contributor. His departure comes while the Seahawks are shuffling their lineup, once again, to replace the [...]

Broncos vs Seahawks: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

In their second exhibition game of the season, the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos at Qwest Field 27-13. Even during the preseason where records are somewhat meaningless, wins are always a plus. A lot of Seattle’s players performed well, and most of the starters played the entire first half of the game. Most importantly, the Seahawks escaped without any serious injuries – Chris Spencer, however, did suffer a quadriceps injury. Just like last week, here is a rundown of the good, bad, and ugly performances from the game against the Denver Broncos: THE GOOD Nick Reed: I think it is [...]

BREAKING: Edgerrin James To Seattle

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to a report at ProFootballTalk.com, Edgerrin James has agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks. James enters a backfield that already includes Julius Jones, T.J. Duckett, Justin Forsett, and Devin Moore. None of the backs, Duckett in particular, have been spectacular in exhibition games played thus far. The signing has been picked up by local media sources such as the Seattle Times and KJR, but nothing has been officially announced yet. If ProFootballTalk.com is accurate, then the deal should be confirmed tomorrow by the Seahawks. More details and opinion will be posted tonight.

Preseason: Broncos vs Seahawks

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a couple of hours, the Seattle Seahawks will square off against the Denver Broncos at Qwest Field. Although it is the second exhibition game for Seattle, it will be the home opener for 2009 preseason. The Seahawks host the Denver Broncos, an old division rival from Seattle’s days in the AFC West. Although it is only the preseason, it would be nice to see the Seahawks apply a beating to their old division adversary. Seattle, already without star players Walter Jones and Marcus Trufant, could be without Julius Jones (leg) or Aaron Curry (groin) as well. Both players have [...]

What About Marcus Trufant?

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

The question is legitimate, because not only was Marcus Trufant’s injury unexpected, but not much has been released and fans are assuming the worst. Trufant reportedly suffered a back injury at some point in the offseason, and was unable to practice when he reported to training camp. He has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list since the opening of camp. Trufant failed a physical earlier this week, and it was revealed that he has an injury similar to the one endured by Matt Hasselbeck last season. The team is confident that Trufant will play again this season, [...]

Walter Jones: Surgery Was Successful

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Walter Jones, as reported, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday morning, and the operation was successful. As evident through MRI results, loose bodies and scar tissue were present and removed during the surgery. The general recovery time for this type of operation is four to six weeks, but the team will reassess the situation in a couple of weeks. The successful operation is obviously good news, but the real news (good or bad, to be determined) will break in a couple of weeks when the team reevaluates Jones’ troublesome knee. Until then, all we can do is cross our fingers and [...]
