I haven’t been posting much lately; my schedule has been quite unforgiving, and the computer I use has been giving me trouble.
Today, however, deserves a post. Today, the Seattle Seahawks placed left tackle Walter Jones on the injured reserve.
Walter Jones has been the cornerstone of Seattle’s offensive line for over a decade; he is arguably the greatest player to ever wear a Seahawks uniform. Now that his season is officially over, we may never see him play another down in the National Football League.
I know he wants to try and return next season. And I’m sure he probably wants a [...]

Walter Jones Done
What a fool I was. I actually thought the Seahawks had a chance to win last Sunday against the Cardinals.
I failed to realize that Seattle’s offense line is full of reserve players and rookies. The offensive line that looked good against Jacksonville, the worst pass-rushing team in the league, was exposed against a more competent Arizona defense.
I failed to realize that Seattle’s running backs aren’t good enough to make plays behind a depleted, untalented offensive line. Hell, even the best running backs around the league would have trouble finding room to run behind the current group of linemen.
I failed to [...]
There weren’t many highlights last Sunday, but here’s a collection of the few good things that happened. Click below to see the video.
Lofa Tatupu Not Finished?
According to Jim Mora, Lofa Tatupu may not be out for the entire season after all. But before everyone starts to rejoice, he still suffered a serious injury that will need time to heal.
Further tests on Tatupu’s right pectoral muscle revealed that the muscles and tendons may not be detached from the bone. If that is the case, Tatupu could heal with rehabilitation instead of surgery.
If Tatupu’s injury doesn’t require season-ending surgery, he could return later in the season. In the mean time, David Hawthorne will assume Tatupu’s role as starting middle linebacker.
No timeline was given for Tatupu’s recovery and/or [...]
Lofa Tatupu Out For Season
When it rains, it pours. Especially in Seattle.
Several sources are reporting that Lofa Tatupu suffered a torn pectoral muscle against the Cardinals earlier this afternoon and will miss the remainder of the season. The injury is quite serious and will require surgery to repair.
Assuming the Seahawks don’t reach out for veteran help, David Hawthorne will step in as the starting middle linebacker. Stay tuned.
I think the Seahawks can win this afternoon.
Maybe it is blind optimism from a homer, desperate for a victory after suffering a crushing loss the night before – the Huskies gave up a fifty-yard pass with seconds to go and found a way to lose in Tempe.
Maybe the optimism stems from last week’s 41-0 victory over the Jaguars. The Seahawks are still at Qwest Field, and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will be in the lineup again.
Or maybe I’m optimistic because of the importance of this particular game, refusing to concede defeat. Especially against a division rival who has been less [...]
Injuries in Seattle have affected more than just the standings this season. Unfortunately, they’re also having an impact on personnel decisions and the Seahawks’ ability to retain players.
Brandon Frye, who would probably be buried on an NFL depth chart anywhere else, was thrust into a starting role because of injuries to Walter Jones and Sean Locklear. The offensive line has been a mess, but Frye actually stepped in and held his own.
Frye, however, is no longer an option. He had been struggling with a groin injury, but a “stinger” injury suffered against Jacksonville will sideline him for the rest of [...]

Owen Schmitt Is A Crazy Man
To best describe Owen Schmitt, he is five beers short of a six-pack. And knowing Schmitt, he probably drank them.
Owen Schmitt is a crazy man.
Just ask the equipment managers at West Virginia who consistently replaced Schmitt’s steel-reinforced facemasks. An unofficial count credits him with nearly a dozen broken facemasks, a direct result of punishing blocks and collisions on the field.
Ask his old college teammates, who jokingly used “Owen Schmitt” instead of “Chuck Norris” in popular comedic phrases. His passion on the field and energy in the gym were regular points of discussion in the locker room.
Or what about friends at [...]
Desperate For A Win
I haven’t been able to write much lately; not because I’ve given up on the season, but my schedule has been brutal the past few weeks. And it doesn’t look like I’ll have much free time available until at least December.
But I’ll do my best to continue posting my opinions and news on the site.
Anyways, the Seahawks are 1-3 one quarter through the season, and even the most optimistic fans are finding it difficult to forecast a successful year. As mentioned previously both here and elsewhere, the injuries are piling up and several players are underachieving. The trip to Indianapolis [...]
