Around this time last year, I compiled a free agent wish list that featured the most prominent players available who would look especially good in a Seahawks uniform. The list, exaggerated and optimistic, featured players like Julius Peppers, Albert Haynesworth, Nnamdi Asomugha, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and Jordan Gross.
To my surprise, the Seahawks actually landed T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Unfortunately, Housh only finished the season with 79 catches for 911 yards and three touchdowns and the Seahawks ended the year with a 5-11 record.
With a handful of early selections in April’s draft and an overwhelming number of needs, the Seahawks should be busy again [...]

Breaking: Seahawks Tag Mare
The Seahawks have announced they’ve placed the franchise tag designation on kicker Olindo Mare, the second time in recent memory the tag has been used to retain a kicker. The move [almost] guarantees that Mare will be back next season as the team’s kicker.
Last season, Mare finished 24/26 on field goals and has been one of the more accurate kickers in the NFL since joining Seattle in 2008.
Update: After further review, this move makes a lot of sense. Besides Mare, there weren’t any players worthy of receiving the franchise tag — there is no way you’d pay Nate Burleson a [...]

Analysis
1.
Ndamukong Suh
Defensive Tackle
Nebraska
Rumors are flying that the Rams could trade this pick, but the player who is drafted here won’t change. Ndamukong Suh is the best player available in this year’s draft, and game-changing defensive tackles aren’t easy to find.
2.
Gerald McCoy
Defensive Tackle
Oklahoma
To protect their $80 million investment (Matthew Stafford), the Lions would be wise to bolster their offensive line. McCoy, however, is too good to pass up here. Detroit has several needs, and a big body in the trenches is one of them. McCoy would be the best prospect in most drafts; unfortunately, he shares the spotlight [...]
A Madden Mullet
Who will be the next “victim” to be featured on the cover of this year’s Madden football game? Doritos and EA Sports have partnered to let the fans decide between Jared Allen, Reggie Wayne, and Drew Brees.
Last season, the cover featured two athletes for the first time ever; Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu shared the spotlight after facing each other in Super Bowl XLIII. While Fitzgerald had a good season (even by his standards), Polamalu was limited to only five games after suffering a knee injury.

Qwest Field, Loudest in the NFL
Popular Mechanics is an American magazine devoted to science and technology. It’s also the latest source to recognize Qwest Field as the loudest in the National Football League. This type of recognition is nothing new for the home of the Hawks; it is consistently considered one of the toughest places to play for visiting opponents.
The NFL Network considers Qwest Field to be the ninth best home-field advantage of all time.
AskMen.com calls Qwest Field “arguably the loudest stadium in the NFL” and ranks it number one on a list of the most intimidating stadiums in professional sports.

NFL Draft Commentary
We’re barely through three weeks in February and I’m already getting anxious for the draft this April. Even more so than last season, the Seahawks will have an opportunity to draft at least a couple franchise-type players. I’m curious to see what will happen, excited for the future of Seahawks football, and optimistic the front office will make the right decisions.
Between now and April, the NFL Draft talk will only increase exponentially; several sites have already put together mock drafts, analyses, and several other draft-related reports.

Analysis
1.
Ndamukong Suh
Defensive Tackle
Nebraska
The Rams need a new quarterback, and the temptation to grab either Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen here is great. But St. Louis can’t afford to pass up the best prospect in 2010, so they select the massive defensive tackle from Nebraska. Suh immediately gives the Rams one of the more intimidating defensive lines in the NFC West.
2.
Gerald McCoy
Defensive Tackle
Oklahoma
After acquiring their franchise quarterback last season, the Lions switch their focus to the trenches. Gerald McCoy would be the best defensive tackle in most drafts and is second to only Ndamukong Suh. He will be [...]
