Who Will The Seahawks Draft?

Pete Carroll knows. And according to a few tweets, he is leaving clues as to who the Seahawks will select when the draft starts tomorrow evening.

From Pete Carroll’s Twitter account:

we’re gonna tweet songs thru out the day to give u hints about our draft picks… try 2 figure it out!

So far, Carroll has “tweeted” eight thirteen different songs that are supposed to provide clues about who Seahawks might be targeting:

Santana – Soul Sacrifice
Lil’ Wayne – Let The Beat Build
The Doors – Back Door Man
House of Pain – Jump Around
Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal
2Pac – California Love
Crash Test Dummies – Superman’s Song
James Brown – Licking Stick
AC/DC – Big Balls
Pearl Jam – Jeremy
Taylor Swift – Today Was a Fairytale
Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
Lynyrd Skynyrd – FreeBird

If anyone has any insight as to who the Seahawks will be drafting from these clues, feel free to share with everyone. Does “California Love” mean that Carroll and the Seahawks will be selecting a player who is currently playing in California? A player from Southern Cal, possibly?

What do you think, 12th Man?

Back door man —- means a left tackle I guess because a left tackle protects the blind side

California love — Brian Price, Taylor Mays, Charles Brown? Maybe even a Stanford player (Gerhard?)………

Smooth Criminal — Eric Berry maybe because he plays so smooth?? Hopefully not someone with character issues (hope not) or someone who is a criminal on the field ( yess!!)

Jump Around — someone with a high vertical jump?? lol

    Isn’t “Superman” Tim Tebow’s nickname?

    Back Door Man = Safety

    Smooth Criminal = Interceptions

    Jump Around = Vertical

California = with all other clues, it is Mays?

I think you’re on target with your good article at Bleacher. Mays does seem to fit most points. Is this a tip to Mays too that the Hawks are going to grab him if he falls to them, perhaps even if they trade down?

My only other thoughts were that Superman has been used for Tim Tebow and California Lovin could refer to Best, both players the Haws have apparently been high on.

Remember 1 year ago when Mays seemed like a dream pick? He still has the talent, but if he doesn’t have the technique, why wasn’t he coached up on it at USC and would this change with the Hawks since they practically brought USC with them?

The only thing that puts my mind at ease, if we did take Mays at 14, is that all of the USC linebackers were getting lower grades than their draft positions last year, and all had great first years in the pro’s…so maybe Mays raw talent will win out.

My gut is that if the Hawks can trade down, they would target, Mays, Best and Tebow as their top guys to grab outside of a tackle. If we start moving down and compiling picks, I would be shocked if none of them ended up as a Hawk.

The Taylor 13 clue is interesting to…Mays played in all 13 games his freshman year, plus the “Taylor” connection? Hmm…

Could FreeBird be a reference to Iowa Hawkeye Brian Bulaga?
