Mike Teel Headed to New England

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

That sure didn’t take long. According to Mike Teel via Twitter, he is going to join Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Closer to home, New England should offer Teel a great opportunity to continue his development as a quarterback in the National Football League. Teel will compete with Brian Hoyer, Isaiah Stanback, and rookie Zac Robinson for a spot on the depth chart. No doubt he’ll have a lot of support from fans in Seattle. Charlie Whitehurst: Still Optimistic

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

A lot of people are skeptical of Charlie Whitehurst for the wrong reasons. Whitehurst has never thrown a pass in a regular season game; even some of the most devoted fans are oblivious to his game. It is hard not to be intrigued by the allure of the unknown. But that same unfamiliarity has created skeptics, desperate to find reasons to criticize the acquisition. Pessimists fail to trust the judgment of John Schneider and the front office, even after an amazing haul in the NFL draft. They’re quick to point out Whitehurst’s preseason statistics, hoping something will prove he is [...]

Resurrecting Carreers in Seattle

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It seems that the Pete Carroll regime has developed an affinity for former first-round draft picks who never panned out. It was assumed that Mike Williams and Reggie Williams were only low-risk acquisitions who could possibly help a depleted core of receivers; the Seahawks replaced Mike Teel with J.P. Losman, and the reclamation projects begin. J.P. Losman shouldn’t necessarily be considered a huge bust in the National Football League – his production has not justified a first-round selection, but he isn’t as disappointing as JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf. As a first-round pick, however, Losman should have developed into a [...]

Webster Officially Leaves for Tennessee

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Seahawks announced today that Ruston Webster has accepted a position with the Tennessee Titans. The departure was anticipated, but today’s announcement made it official. Webster, who had been the interim general manager following Tim Ruskell’s removal, was the Vice President of Player Personnel in Seattle and is expected to fill a similar role in Tennessee. “On behalf of Mr. Allen, Tod Leiweke, coach Carroll and the entire Seahawks family, I want to wish Ruston Webster, his wife Gayle and their family the best in their new endeavor with the Tennessee Titans,” John Schneider said earlier, very complimentary of Webster [...]

Miserable in Seattle

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Feeling optimistic? Forbes.com just revealed its list of America’s most miserable sports cities and Seattle is at the top. Citing a lack of championships and a departed franchise, Tom Van Riper says Seattle is the most miserable city in the country for sports fans. To make this even more depressing, Seattle tops the list for the second consecutive year. The Sonics left for Oklahoma City and disgruntled followers in Seattle have watched Kevin Durant develop into a star. Basketball fans are hopeful a professional team will return, but the original Supersonics can never be replaced. The Mariners haven’t made the [...]

Leon Washington Hopes To Be Ready For Camp

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Despite suffering a gruesome leg injury last season, Leon Washington hopes to be healthy enough to participate in training camp. Alvin Keels, Washington’s agent, was confident enough to state on Twitter: Leon Washington has continued to work hard in rehab and is now running and changing directions. Expects to be ready by the start of camp! Considering how severe Washington’s injury was – his fractured fibula reportedly broke through the skin – it will be remarkable to see him back on the field in August. A fractured fibula requires complete immobilization followed by intense rehabilitation to recover strength. Hopefully, Washington [...]

Coach Carroll Answers Questions Via Twitter

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Last month, Pete Carroll intrigued Twitter followers by listing several “clues” as to who the Seahawks would select in the NFL Draft. Each new clue was a song title, and most followers were puzzled with the ambiguity and mystery that developed with each new tweet. Whether Carroll was seriously revealing Seattle’s draft strategy or just fooling around on Twitter is unknown, but Seattle’s newest head coach definitely knows how to entertain on social media. Earlier this afternoon, Carroll offered his followers a new opportunity: who’s got questions? gonna answer some for the next few minutes… fire away! Here is a [...]

Draft Experts Are Not Always Right

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

A few days ago, the Oakland Raiders cut ties with JaMarcus Russell, the first player selected in the 2007 NFL Draft. No doubt, Russell is destined to become one of the biggest draft busts of all time. Russell’s demise has been well-documented and the draft experts couldn’t have been more incorrect about his future in the National Football League. Since the Raiders released Russell, quote-worthy analysis prior to the 2007 draft has become very popular. If anything, it proves nothing is guaranteed in the draft. There aren’t any perfect prospects and even the most hyped players aren’t surefire All-Pros. Even [...]

More Offseason Praise for Seattle

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Seattle Seahawks received high praise from analysts all over the country for their haul on draft day. The offseason applause continues, this time from ESPN.com’s John Clayton. Clayton put together a quick list of five teams who, in his opinion, had the best offseasons. Bold moves, aggressive signings, and prowess on NFL draft day all equate to a thumbs up from the Professor: 5. Seattle Seahawks: Pete Carroll had more holes to fill on the Seahawks’ roster than he had scholarships at USC. Except for defensive end, Carroll filled a lot of holes. He was the big winner in [...]

Pete Carroll Speaks to Seattle Rotarians

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yesterday, Pete Carroll was the keynote speaker at a Seattle Rotary luncheon at the Westin Hotel in Seattle. I was fortunate enough to attend and listen to Seattle’s newest head football coach. “We could talk about a lot of things, but don’t you just really want to talk about football?” I wasn’t sure if Carroll would be focusing on philanthropic achievements, involvement in the community, or goals he has set for himself in Seattle. Of course, realizing that Carroll would focus his speech on the current state of the Seattle Seahawks was a pleasant surprise. Carroll is an energetic man. [...]
