Anyone Seen Houshmandzadeh?

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

So far this season TJ Houshmandzadeh has been a non factor for the Baltimore Ravens. He has 2 catches for 31 yards. To give a comparison he has as many catches as the Fullback from Tennessee. The Fullback for the Dolphins has 3 catches so far, and the Fullback for the Ravens has a whopping 4. As a Seahawks fan, you have to love this. It is not often that I cheer for a guy to fail, but I have made an exception in TJ’s case. I haven’t hated a former player this much since Hutchinson’s agent invented the term [...]

Leon Washington Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Leon Washington will be named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week by the National Football League today. No big surprise there. Last Sunday, Washington led the Seahawks to a 27-20 victory over the San Diego Chargers at home. He compiled over 250 yards on only four kickoff returns, including two returned for touchdowns. Both touchdowns occurred in critical moments during the second half of the football game. As good as Washington was, it is almost unbelievable that he was very close to returning a third kickoff for a touchdown. While trying to make a move on San Diego’s Nate [...]

The Return / Debut of King Okung

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Seahawks | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Looks like Russell Okung will make his professional debut for the Seahawks this week in St. Louis. The Hawks really need some consistency on that side of the ball. Their makeshift line has been a revolving door of names dating back to the preseason. In fact, Mansfield Wrotto and Mike Gibson were just released today to make room for Allen Barbre and Breno Giacomini. There have been high expectations for Okung from the moment the sound of his last name left the announcer’s mouth at the 2010 draft. He is a “can’t miss” prospect with all the tools to build [...]

5 Things I Realize after Sunday’s Game

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Make no mistake. Leon Washington won that game against the Chargers. There were other bright spots such as the 2 picks by Earl Thomas and the somewhat consistent pressure on Phillip Rivers. The Seattle defense collected a total of 4 sacks on Sunday, 2 for Clemons and 1 for Mebane and Brock. There were times, however, when the Chargers’ receivers were so wide open I wondered if the Seattle defense was even on the field. What defensive play was that? The Cover 5? I get the “bend don’t break” theory of defense, but that was ridiculous. As good as the [...]

Is Eddie Vedder Raising the Flag?

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Word from the stadium, and this is strictly an unconfirmed rumor, is that Eddie Vedder wil be raising the 12th man flag at some point this year. This was an anonymous tip from a trusted source. I know that Eddie Vedder is originally from San Diego or near that area. He was also recently married last week. I sure hope he proves me right this week, Go Hawks!

The Tale of 2 Defenses

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Without a pass rush, The Seahawks have no chance against the arm of Phillip Rivers. Currently Rivers is 4th in the NFL averaging 316 ypg. The last time Rivers was in Seattle, 2006, he found Jackson in the waning seconds of the 4th qtr to steal what by all accounts should have been a Seahawk win. The weird thing is that Rivers had a 33% completion percentage, however, he did have 2 tds. I can’t help but wonder which Seattle defense will show up for this weeks match up against the Chargers. If it’s the week 1 defense, I think [...]

Top 12: Reasons the Seahawks Will Beat the San Diego Chargers

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

12. In solidarity with Vincent Jackson, the whole Chargers team goes out and gets drunk, leading to multiple DUIs and other alcohol-related arrests. The Seahawks easily beat the hungover Chargers. 11. It’s an old school AFC West rivalry. Nostalgia is stoked, Qwest Field will be electric, and the Seahawks break out some vintage smash mouth defense. Dan Fouts has a flashback of Jacob Green crushing him, and he ends up wetting himself in his Lazy-Boy. 10. The Chargers got smoked by the Kansas City Chiefs while playing in a downpour. Seahawks fans: start your rain dances. 9. Ryan Mathews has [...]

Mike Tolbert Looks to Punish Seattle Defenders

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Running back Ryan Mathews will not play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. That should be good news, unless you selected him early in your fantasy football draft this year. Even if Mathews did play, I’d have to believe he would have a hard time finding room to run through Seattle’s massive defense. The front four on the defensive line – Red Bryant, Brandon Mebane, Colin Cole, and Chris Clemons – combine to weigh over half a ton and are predictably stout against the run. With Mathews shelved for Sunday’s game, the San Diego Chargers will give the football to [...]

Seattle Seahawks Decide Not to Pursue Vincent Jackson

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Through the offseason and into the regular season, Seattle’s new front office has been quite difficult to figure out, to say the least. When Tim Ruskell was in town, his moves were sometimes predictable. Predictable isn’t a great trait for a general manager, but Ruskell was egotistical and very disciplined in his philosophy on building a football team. Ruskell wanted to obtain players who had won before. He wanted determined players with experience against the best competition, a team-first attitude, and a relentless work ethic. Most importantly, the player had to be of high character, a stand-up citizen, and well-behaved [...]
