Enjoying the Process of Earl Thomas

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Earl Thomas is in the process of becoming the future. He was an extra pick Tim Ruskell fanagled out of the Broncos and then was never allowed to take. whew! Thank god it wasn’t Ruskell making the call. He would have peed his pants, hollered out Tim Tebow’s name, and fainted into a fetal position twitching every once in a while whispering, “Timmy,” only to fall gently back asleep. John Schneider and Pete Carroll went with Thomas. So far the the 14th pick is 2nd on the team with 30 tackles, tied for 1st on the team with 5 passes [...]

Tony Dungy: Seahawks Are the Best Team in the NFC

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Everyone has seen this video by now, right? If you haven’t, check it out after the jump. Tony Dungy calls the Seattle Seahawks the “best team in the NFC.” Immediately following his statement, both Dan Patrick and Rodney Harrison drown his opinion with laughter and criticism. I can’t say I completely agree with Tony Dungy, but the Seahawks are an improving football team capable of winning their division. At this point, would it be too much to expect a home playoff game this season? Either way, it is always nice to hear someone with a national perspective praise the Seahawks [...]

Top 12: Why It’s Better to Be a Seahawks Fan Than a Raiders Fan

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

12. Seahawks fans communicate by turning words into sentences, both in writing and verbally. Raiders fans communicate in a series of loud grunts that even they don’t understand. 11. Pete Carroll seems like that fun uncle who always told funny stories and played catch with you in the backyard. Raiders Coach Tom Cable seems like the uncle your aunt left because he was always drunk and beat her. 10. The Raiders employ a grief counselor to help free agent signees adjust to becoming a Raider. Seahawks players are simply given a sun lamp to adjust to the weather. 9. Unlike [...]

Raheem Brock’s All-Time Flop

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

Raheem Brock really needs to work on his acting. Late in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, Brock was flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The penalty  was called because Brock was apparently taunting Arizona quarterback Derek Anderson. After coming together at the sidelines following a play, Anderson brushed against Brock while returning to his huddle. Attempting to exaggerate the force applied by Arizona’s quarterback, Brock threw himself backwards and onto the ground. I’m pretty sure he also held his hands up as if he were attempting to draw a penalty. Despite Brock’s obvious flop, the officials were not [...]

Seahawks Back on Top

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

There should still be plenty of room left on the bandwagon. Be careful, however; if you wait too long, there may not be anywhere left to sit. The Seattle Seahawks have proven themselves to be legitimate competitors in their division of the NFC. They may not be a dominant team, but they’re growing, improving, and definitely capable of earning a playoff berth. The Seahawks are 3-0 at home for the first time since 2005 and have a signature win on the road against Chicago. Winning additional road games shouldn’t be necessary for Seattle; Qwest Field is a dominant home-field advantage [...]

Seattle Takes Control of the NFC West

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It wasn’t pretty, but I will take it. Seattle battled through the elements and penalties to best the division rival Arizona Cardinals at Qwest field. The Seattle defense looked good as they kept Arizona off the board in the first half, however, they did surrender their first 100 yard rushing game. The defense forced 5 turnovers during the game and held undrafted rookie quarterback, M. Hall to a mere 36 yards before he was supposedly injured. It looked like more of a broken ego than anything.

Seahawks Sign Chris Henry

AUTHOR: | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

In minor news Saturday, the Seattle Seahawks have signed running back Chris Henry from the practice squad and released offensive lineman Breno Giacomini. I would be surprised if Henry was active in tomorrow’s game against the Cardinals. Giacomini, who was signed from Green Bay’s practice squad in late September, had not played in a game this season for Seattle. Henry was originally selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. In his career, he has played in 10 games and rushed for 122 yards on 32 attempts. This was his second stint on Seattle’s practice squad. Shaun Dolence: [...]

Top 12: Surprising Stories of the Week

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

12. Continuing their partisan bickering, Dino Rossi and Patty Murray struggle to jointly raise the 12th man flag, fighting for control of the rope while their aides make statements blaming the other for its slow rise. Seahawks fans write in Chuck Knox on their ballots. 11. After watching Matt Hasselbeck throws three touchdown passes in the 1st half, Larry Fitzgerald demands a trade to the Hawks midway through the 2nd quarter. 10. Thanks to the new law allowing police greater powers to detain suspected illegal immigrants, local cops in Arizona interrupt the Cardinals’ game with the Seahawks to detain Arizona [...]

Hasselbeck on South Park

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is of very little significance as far as the playoffs go, however, Matt Hasselbeck did appear on the new episode of South Park Wednesday night. I can’t help but wonder if he knew this was coming or was just as surprised as I was last night. South Park has used many athletes in their show over the years, however, none have ever been from Seattle. Well done Matt. You have officially made a blip on the Pop Culture radar.

Fortunately, Jon Ryan is Okay

AUTHOR: | IN: Seahawks | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Late in last Sunday’s game, Jon Ryan took a vicious hit from Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett during a punt return. Fortunately Ryan, who has been one of Seattle’s best and most consistent players, should be okay moving forward (yes, he is a punter). There has been a lot of coverage this week on big hits around the National Football League, so I should point out that Bennett’s hit was legal and did not appear to be malicious. If the league decides to start suspending players who deliver illegal blows, Bennett’s would not warrant punishment. “We think Jon’s going to [...]
