Earl Thomas Looking Great in Rookie Season

Just watched Seahawks Press Pass the other night and loved the things Pete Carroll said about Earl Thomas.

One of the things he was quick to point out was how early Earl Thomas came out of college, and that he is being asked to do things he was never asked to do in college.

It was a great point.  Earl Thomas is absorbing football like a child studies language.  The thing that I believe seperates him is his true love to be a great football player.

Many players are happy getting paid or individual recognition.  That’s why they work so hard.  One might argue this was the case with a certain Hawks running back.

Earl Thomas loves the game and only wants to improve.  More so, he wants to be the best for all the right reasons.  Granted, he is still very young, and it may only be a matter of time until the indulgences of the NFL taint this now pure player.  But until such time, I am trusting never, I am ecstatic to have Earl Thomas right now.  He looks to be a great prospect for the future.  I love the way he plays and the way he conducts himself off the field.

In all honesty, I believe we may have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far.

He’ll be even better once we get a decent pass rush.

  • Riley Moore

    Agreed.

Our pass rush isn’t that bad. It’s bad, but it’s hardly out biggest concern on defense. At least Chris Clemmons is making some noise. Can you believe we got him for Darryl Tapp? Of all the trades Schneider made this year, that one may have been the best.

But back to the topic. Thomas has been great except for a few times where he missed an assignment deep, and you can’t expect a rookie not to make those. I am just glad that Milloy came back to work with him. I can’t imagine a better teacher for a young safety.

  • Riley Moore

I agree. Milloy is a huge part of Thomas’ development right now. What a great guy to learn the ropes from.

Which Hawks RB do you think is only out there to get paid?
Forsett? I seriously doubt you’re talking about him.
Lynch? If you are talking about Lynch, you should start actually watching the games. He runs like a madman.

I was talking about S Alexander. I love Forsett, Washington, and Lynch.

Then my apologies, i couldn’t agree more. He was a stud but yet, in the end, he just wanted his $$. It made me absolutely sick to see him go down before he was even hit to absorb the blow. I’m so excited about Lynch, once we can actually block for him, the BEAST & PRIEST duo could be a tough combo. And throw in a little Washington here and there, and on kick returns, scary.

  • Riley Moore

Ya. At least we have a couple of things to still get excited for this year. Lynch is especially weird becasue he looks so good despite the numbers, or lack ther of, he puts up.
