Grade The Seattle Seahawks Draft Class: Round 1

Now that we are a couple of weeks removed from the NFL Draft, we here at 12th Man Rising thought it would be a great time to begin handing out initial grades on the 2011 Seattle Seahawks Draft Class.

We’re going to do this old school and grade each pick individually. Once all the grades are in, we will compile them into an average to assign a community grade for the entire class.

Let’s start at the top with first round selection Alabama OT James Carpenter. Carpenter comes from the extremely competitive SEC, so he will be more used to going up against top defensive lineman than tackles from other conferences.

Still, the pick was highly controversial among many Seahawks fans. NFL Draft Scout had Carpenter listed as a 2nd round pick and as their 6th best tackle in the draft. There are plenty of folks out there who think the Seahawks would have been much better off taking Gabe Carimi or Derek Sherrod, both of whom were still on the board.

The big question is, what does the crew here at 12th Man think? Now is your chance to weigh in.

Struggling to understand people giving the James Carpenter pick high grades. Granted the rest the division picked much earlier than us but they showed us up in each and every round, not just the first.
