Seahawks Spotlight: Paul Allen’s Energy Conservation “Qwest”

Since taking over the team, Seahawks owner and Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen, has given fans a new home to be proud of  for many years to come. Qwest field, is now widely recognized as the loudest and in some respects, most advanced stadium in the NFL. Now, to add to an already spectacular venue, it has recently been reported that team management gave the go-ahead to install 3,750 solar panels to the Qwest Field Event Center’s roof. Here’s what Seahawks President, Peter McLoughlin, had to say about the project.

“What a perfect spot for it,” McLoughlin said. “It’s the right thing for the environment. It’s the right thing for energy conservation. And it’s going to save us money in the long run.

“It’s really smart. It’s just the right thing to do.” (per Seahawks.com)

This environmentally friendly upgrade will cut up to 21 percent ($280,000) on annual utility costs. It will also help to further establish Paul Allen’s reputation for being “ahead of his time”, as he continues to find new, innovative ways of  enhancing the sustainability and profitability of his multi-interest empire.
