NFL Lockout: Players Hit the Brakes Despite the High Stakes

Spikes doesn’t seem as impressed with the NEW DEAL as the owners do.

Not so fast.  Check out this interview with Takeo Spikes from the 49ers.  Spikes is the players’ representative and did not seem as impressed with the new deal as the owners.

This is a major setback in getting something done.  I had heard rumblings last night, however, this video seems to make it clear that this is not the same deal that the players last saw at the negotiating table.  The term “power play” seems to be the buzz word everyone is using to describe the owners most recent tactic.

If I had to make a guess, I would say that this might be the point where things really get ugly as huge sums of money begin to evaporate from the NFL’s pockets.  I really had hoped it would not come to this, and I am still holding my breath, however, things are not looking good right now.

If I were you, I would hold off on booking any hotels for the regular season just yet.
