4 More Roster Moves

I warned you back on Saturday that the 53 players who survived the cut day weren’t going to be the 53 players on the roster by the time the Seahawks kicked off the season next Saturday. Sure enough Pete Carroll and John Schneider decided to make 4 additional moves today:

  • They changed kickers, signing Steve Hauschka and cutting Jeff Reed. Clearly Reed’s inability to reach the end zone on kickoffs didn’t make anyone happy.
  • Defensive linemen Junior Siavii and Pep Levingston were released in favor of Landon Cohen and Al Woods. I’m a little surprised that Siavii got the axe, as he was a good looking run stopper last season. Levingston will likely be added to the practice squad.
  • Finally offensive tackle Jarriel King was added in favor of linebacker David Vobora. I think this move says more about the injury concerns for Robert Gallery and Russel Okung than it does about Voroba.

6 players were also signed to the practice squad today: Maurice Fountain, Jameson Konz, Josh Pinkard, Ricardo Lockette, Brent Osborne, Owen Spencer. All 6 were with the team in training camp. The Seahawks still have 2 open spots left to fill on the practice squad.
