Seahawk’s Schedule Looks To Be Very Tough

The NFL didn’t do the Seahawks any favors. The 2012 schedule really lines up in a way that is extremely difficult for the Seahawks to navigate.

The first 8 games are an incredibly tough stretch. 5 road game, with the only home games being against the Packers, Patriots and Cowboys. That isn’t going to be easy. Even though the road games include winnable games against the Ram, Cardinals, 49ers, and Patherns (and maybe even the Lions if they revert back to their pre-2011 existence), winning on the road in the NFL is no easy feet.

The 2nd half of the schedule is much easier. 5 home games include the Rams, Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings, and Jets are all very winnable games. The 3 road tests are the Bills, Bears and Dolphins. Of the 3, only the Bears figure to be in the playoff hunt this season.

Ideally, the schedule would have been reversed. The Seahawks are a young team, and young teams tend to develop slowly. Just look at the 2011 season, and how slowly the Seahawks started before finding their footing and running off a rather dominant stretch.

As it stands now, the Seahawks will play their toughest stretch when they’re at their weakest, and their easiest stretch when you’d expect them to be at there strongest. If they succeed early, they could go on a massive run late and be in the hunt for a first round playoff bye. If they struggle early, it’s likely they may end up digging a hole they can’t get out of, even with a very good 2nd half of the season.
