Golden Tate Fractures Hand

Its been hard to get specifics on what exactly happened, but Golden Tate has fractured a bone in his hand. The injury does not seem to require surgery, but be miss the rest of the team’s OTAs this summer. He will be ready for start of training camp.

This is a huge setback for Tate. 2012 is a make it or break it year for him, and he really needs these workouts and practices to continue improving and stay in front of Kearse and Tunei, who are both gunning for his roster spot.

Tate finally showed flashes of his potential down the stretch last season, but also a tendency to disappear for long stretches of games. As a starter over the last 5 games of the season, Tate averaged just 3.8 reception/game.

This clearly is a big setback for the young receiver.
