Seattle Seahawks Release WR Mike Williams

by Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks announced a few minutes ago that they have released WR Mike Williams. This isn’t all that surprising, but the timing of it is. I didn’t expect Williams to make the final 53 man roster ahead of younger, more talented players.

John Schneider:

“We would like to thank Mike for his contributions over the past two seasons and we wish him well in the future.”

I’ll have more on this surprising development in a few minutes.

Edit: Clearly, I didn’t have the time I expected to elaborate on this. Instead, my thoughts will be posted in the morning.

I read where Williams put on quite a bit of weight from 2010 to 2011.  Didn’t he try to regain his 2010 form after the 2011 season?  Why didn’t they release him earlier?  Is Winslow really Williams’ replacement because the Hawks will be in a double TE formation?  I wish management would give some idea why they let people go.  Williams gave a great interview and seemed grateful that Carroll gave him a chance.  Not a me, me type like Winslow.

@ricefield read my other article about his release. I answered some of those questions, and detailed out a few still unanswered ones.
