Seattle Seahawks Camp Preview: Pre-Camp Depth Chart

We’ve almost made it through this week of waiting. Football is almost here. Just a couple more days…

In the mean time, I figured I’d update the Seahawks depth chart. I haven’t updated it since the draft, so its clearly overdue. First the chart, then the explanation, remember this is how things are right now, not how they’ll be for week 1:

The first thing people will argue about is placing QB Matt Flynn at #1. The reports of Tarvaris Jackson being #1 are erroneous. Jackson gets the day 1 snaps because its his turn in the competition, not because he’s in the lead. Flynn was the best of QBs during the offseason program, and thus he’s the #1 QB as of right now. This competition is far from over.

The other big issue is that I don’t have duplicate names on here, and that was intentional in order to put as many names on here since they are fighting for a spot. For instance, I could have put Deuce Lutui as the backup at both RG and LG, and I expect that would be the case if the season started today, but someone else will be RG when the 2nd team offense is on the field during camp.

I also contemplated putting the nickel back, and pass rushing replacement for the 5-tech, and other package specific positions on here, but decided against it. I’m sure you can understand why.
