Pete Carroll announced today that CB Roy Lewis will be out for this week’s game, and will require surgery for his knee.
The severity of the injury was not disclosed, but Carroll did indicate that this will not end Lewis’s season. Lewis is expected to be out about 3 weeks, meaning he wont be ready to play the season opener against Arizona.
Lewis was having a great camp, and was expected to get significant playing time this year as the nickel corner. It is unclear if this injury will significantly effect his role once he returns.
The injury should cement Marcus Trufant’s place on the roster, as he was only only other player significantly in the running for the nickel corner job, and thus he will be needed for the game against the Cardinals.
