Nothing is official until tomorrow, but every major media outlet has confirmed that the Seahawks and Vikings have agreed to term that will send star wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seahawks.
It is still unclear what compensation the Seahawks have sent in the other direction. A draft pick is almost certainly included. If no players are headed to Minnesota, than I’m assuming at Seattle 1st round pick is included until I’m told otherwise.
In fact, as I’m writing this, this came across my screen:
So it would seem that the Seahawk’s first round pick is included in the trade.
Other potential compensation would include Brandon Browner or Golden Tate. Both are entering the final year of their contract and unlikely to be retained by the Seahawks after this next season. It is also possible that Sydney Rice is included, but only because of his salary.
Speaking of Rice, if neither he nor Tate are included in this trade, it is possible that Rice is cut, or asked to take a pay cut. Seattle is unlikely to carry 2 high priced receivers for longer than 2013 season.
And while we’re on the topic of contracts, Harvin will be getting a new one, and that also appears to be completed.
Harvin is just 24 years old, and is considered to be one of the most explosive players in the NFL. This is a deal that will make the Seahawks much better on offense, so matte what the price turns out to be.
