McDonald was cut by the Seahawks at the end of exhibition play, but was due to make $1.3 million as a restricted free agent, according to Eric Williams at The News Tribune.
The 26-year-old is expected to be able to play in Sunday night’s game against San Francisco. Defensive tackles Jordan Hill (biceps) and Brandon Mebane (ankle) have been limited in practice so it is very plausible that McDonald could see playing time on Sunday.
To even out the roster, the Seahawks released tackle Mike Person, who was in his third season with Seattle.
McDonald is listed at 6-foot-2 and 297 pounds on his player profile. He has 64 combined tackles in his three-year career but does not yet have a sack in the NFL.
