Russell Wilson has reportedly turned down an offer to participate in ABC’s hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars” so he can focus on his football career.

Wilson has shown that he is quick on his feet on the football field and producers of the show thought his athleticism would transfer over well to the dance floor.

It’s not the first time Wilson has declined an invite to be on the show.

“I have been invited, twice actually,” Wilson said in a recent interview with Access Hollywood. “After my rookie year, I got invited to do ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and then after this year, I got invited to do ‘Dancing with the Stars.'”

The show lasts a grueling 11 weeks if the contestant makes it to the final round. If Wilson competed on the show this season (which starts March 17) and made it that far, he would be competing until well into the month of May.

“I need to focus on my football career right now,” said Wilson. “I’m trying to do as much as I can in terms of winning football games for the Seattle Seahawks and our franchise. But I will do it at some point, for sure.”

Several NFL stars have found success on the show.

Bleacher Report noted that Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Donald Driver all won in their respective seasons, while Warren Sapp, Jerry Rice and Jason Taylor finished in second place.

Chad Johnson, Jacoby Jones, Kurt Warner, Michael Irvin, Keyshawn Johnson, and Lawrence Taylor have also made appearances on the show.

“Dancing with the Stars” will start its 18th season on March 17. The cast will be revealed on Tuesday, March 4.
