Seahawks re-sign Steven Hauschka with 3-year deal

The Seahawks have agreed to a 3-year deal with Steven Hauschka. The deal is worth more than $9 million, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Seattle decided weeks ago not to give Hauschka a franchise tag, and instead agreed on a deal which should keep the kicker in Seattle until 2017.

Hauschka was extremely accurate last season, converting 33 of his 35 field-goal attempts.

Pro Football Focus noted that his performance in 2013 made him the league’s No. 5 overall kicker.

The Seattle P-I said that Hauschka’s 89.1 percent accuracy rate on field goals makes him the most accurate kicker in Seahawks history. He has been with the team since 2011.

I know Kickers do not get the love other players get, but I believe this was a must deal and I am VERY happy it got done. This guy is money when the game is on the line. WHEN or IF the rules concerning extra points are changed, say, moving back the spot from where extra points are kicked, a guy like Hauschka will be the difference in even more contests. Very happy!
