The Seahawks already have one of the coolest uniforms in the NFL, but wouldn’t it be awesome to see the team re-create their classic old-school look for the franchise’s 40th anniversary?

Yes, I know that doesn’t come until 2016, but I’m bringing it up now because developing the entire uniform could take awhile.

Seattle was fortunate to have a classic look as soon as the franchise began in 1976, a signature look that remained relatively unchanged until only about a decade ago.

The original silver helmet, blue jersey, and silver pants scheme looked like this:

Many Seahawk greats played the game with these uniforms on, including Dave Krieg, Kenny Easley, Cortez Kennedy and Steve Largent among many others.

Seattle’s franchise has only made major changes to their uniforms twice, once in 2002 with the uniforms they took to Super Bowl XL and again in 2012 with the uniforms they took to Super Bowl XLVIII.

A number of NFL teams have begun creating retro uniforms for symbolic games and other special occasions. The Seahawks should represent their history with a throwback of their own.

Can you imagine Russell Wilson in an old school jersey? He might look something like this:
