Frank Gore’s Struggles vs Seahawks Continue, Concusses Himself (GIF)

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore has been a thorn in the Seattle Seahawks‘ side since he entered the NFL in 2005. Gore has rushed for over 1,400 yards against the Seahawks in his career – the most against any NFL team. Throw in an additional 400 yards receiving and you can see how valuable he has been to the 49ers in the divisional rivalry.

That being said, the Seahawks elite defense has found a way to silence Gore on the field five of their past six meetings.

In their December, 2013 meeting in San Francisco, Gore rushed for 110 yard on just 17 carries. The 49ers won that matchup 19-17. It was also the last time in over two years that the 49ers have been able to defeat the Seattle Seahawks.

Including the playoffs, the Seahawks have won five of the past six games they have played against the 49ers. Excluding the 110 yard performance mentioned earlier, Frank Gore has been limited to no more than 29 yards rushing in a game.

Those five games have been miserable performances by Gore:

Regular Season

  • Dec, 2012 – 6 att for 28 yards
  • Sep, 2013 – 9 att for 16 yards
  • Nov, 2014 – 10 att for 28 yards
  • Dec, 2014 – 11 att for 29 yards

Playoffs

  • Jan, 2014 – 11 att for 14 yards

To make things even worse for both Gore and the 49ers, last week’s meeting resulted in a concussion for the running back when he tried to block Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. After hitting Wagner in the side in what looked to be a legal hit, Gore collapsed on the field and did not return.

Now it appears that he may miss the 49ers next game against the San Diego Chargers after sitting out Wednesday’s practice.

Check out the hit that resulted in a concussion.
