Seattle Seahawks 2015 season predictions

With the 2015 season just days away, it’s time to look at the season in a sort-of rational matter and see where I have the season taking us. If you disagree, fight me. Don’t actually fight me. Courteously disagreeing is also acceptable, especially if you tell me why you disagree in the comments.

Let’s take a look at the schedule and do a quick run down each of the Seattle Seahawks games.

More from Seattle Seahawks News

Week 1 @ Rams: The Rams drafted Todd Gurley in the first round who personally scares me because to my eyes and studying, looks like he could potentially become a guy whose name would rhyme with Snarshawn Mynch. They made a big trade for Nick Foles, but he still holds onto the ball too long. Their defensive line is over-whelming. Regardless, Seattle escapes with a 24-17 win.

Week 2 @ Packers: “Pissed off Aaron Rodgers means they will win!” As if the Seahawks don’t have anything to be pissed about from two weeks after the NFC Championship Game. Regardless, I do actually feel the Packers will defend home turf and give the Seahawks their second ever prime time loss under Pete Carroll. With a hurting Seattle secondary and still growing offensive line / CB group, Green Bay holds up with a 28-24 win.

Week 3 vs Bears: Does anyone know what’s going on with the Bears? I don’t think even Jay Cutler does. They lost Brandon Marshall and their highly coveted draft pick Kevin White still has yet to play for them due to injury. Not to mention “Like the Bears defense” is now an insult and no longer a compliment. Even with Vic Fangio as the new defensive coordinator and John Fox at the helm, hard to imagine them walking into CenturyLink and winning. Seattle gets their first blowout of the season 31 – 10.

Week 4 vs Lions: The highly anticipated return of Golden Tate. Except it’s not via a trade unfortunately, it’s his team the Detroit Lions coming to Seattle for Monday Night Football. Their new running back Ameer Abdullah looks like the real deal, but so does the Seahawks improved defensive front. Golden Tate very well may go off against the cornerback opposite of Sherman, and Stafford is a quality QB, but I believe there are big plays to be had on their defense with the loss of Suh even with Ngata. Seattle sneaks away 27-26.

Week 5 @ Bengals: This is a lot of peoples sneaky loss for Seattle this season, but not for me. The Bengals still have a talented roster, it’s a 10 AM PST start time, and it seems just random enough for Seattle to lose it. But I have a hard time accepting Andy Dalton will beat the Seahawks – again. Dalton gives you just enough opportunities to make him pay, and that is what I expect from the defensive line. If Jeremy Hill controls the game this could be a loss, but I’m predicting Seattle 21-14.

Week 6 vs Panthers: Carolina has given us tough games especially since 2012 (excluding the 2015 playoffs smackdown) but I feel the Carolina Panthers are truly somewhere between the really tough games they give us and the playoff blowout. We won in Carolina despite not having All-Pro LB Bobby Wagner. The Panthers lost Kelvin Benjamin for the year, one of their biggest bright spots they were relying upon. Their offensive line does Cam Newton no favors. They stay in the game early, but Seattle flexes their superiority 24-7.

Week 7 @ 49ers: The Seahawks get their first look at the new look 49ers, featuring half of their roster leaving in the off-season and firing one of the most successful head coaches they have ever had. It’s almost hard to get pumped up for a game vs Jim Tomsula, except it’s still football and it’s still Colin Kaepernick. Expect a couple trick players from the 49ers in this game, as it would be the perfect time to pull it off when your team is clearly in a mismatch. Still some playmakers on their team, but Seattle leaves the stadium of pants (Levi’s) 28-17.

Week 8 @ Cowboys: Unfortunately for the Seahawks, they drew the Cowboys when all their suspended new awesome players like Greg Hardy will be back. The Cowboys are a team built to give Seattle problems as we saw last year with an elite offensive line and a defensive line who can get pressure on you, and their defensive line just got more talented. Even with the loss of Murray, I think the Cowboys and Romo do enough to defend home with a 27-20 win.

Week 10 vs Cardinals: Coming off a bye week home to Arizona, even if Carson Palmer is healthy for this game I don’t see them coming in and winning. With an offensive line with as many questions as Seattle’s and Seattle having an extra bye week for rest and game planning and a playoff push in the making, Seattle gets past them 24-10.

Week 11 vs 49ers: If you thought this matchup was uninspiring at San Francisco, it’s still uninspiring in Seattle. Seattle styles on Jim Tomsula and friends 34-3 in a game that makes Jim Harbaugh chuckle all the way from Michigan.

Week 12 vs Steelers: The first time the Steelers have been in Seattle since the Super Bowl XL loss, and don’t think fans won’t be loud and ready for this game. The Steelers present a very tough matchup for the Seahawks via their offense, but defensively have a lot more questions than you would expect from a Steelers defense. Seattle holds on despite a big day from Antonio Brown and Bell 31-28.

Week 13 @ Vikings: This presents an interesting challenge for the Seahawks because it’s almost like playing the 2012 versions of themselves. A young QB with a lot of upside with an elite running back that also fields a young, growing defense that has a bright future. Mike Zimmer will be a solid head coach for years to come in Minnesota. Bridgewater tests Sherman late and regrets it as Seattle wins 24-21.

Week 14 @ Ravens: Quite possibly my most anticipated matchup of the year because of the amount of respect I have for John Harbaugh and what he’s done with the Ravens. Steve Smith Sr. was a fantastic pickup for the Ravens during the 2014 free agency period and he proved he still has game left in the tank. Seattle is ready for the lights and loud Baltimore crowd and send a statement to the rest of the league with a 24-20 win in Baltimore.

Week 15 vs Cleveland: This is the random loss, and it’ll be vs the Browns in Seattle. Just a bad enough QB to make you question why more elite QB’s can’t be successful vs Seattle’s defense, with a good enough defense to potentially give Seattle one of those “random, bad games” from the offense. Cleveland leaves Seattle with short term hopes and dreams and Seahawks twitter freaks out with a 17-14 win.

Week 16 vs Rams: Sorry Rams, but someone has to play Seattle after losing to Cleveland. With home field advantage on the line, Seattle doesn’t disappoint and Jeff Fisher’s mustache cries in disappointment as Seattle reasserts dominance 30-9.

Week 17 @ Cardinals: Remember what happened the last time the Seahawks needed to win in Arizona to have a chance at home field advantage? Me neither. Seattle secures home field advantage in a tight contest 20-13.

Playoffs: #1 seed in the NFC. Wins two home games again and represents the NFC in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks win after a Russell Wilson to Jimmy Graham 24 yard touchdown with 1:30 left and Earl Thomas intercepts Andrew “neckbeard” Luck 27-24.
