Seattle Seahawks shuffle roster, wait for news on Marshawn Lynch

After a long couple of days of waiting, the Seattle Seahawks still haven’t provided us any news regarding the status of star running back Marshawn Lynch. We know he went to see a specialist in sports hernia surgery, but theirs been no word on if or when that surgery will take place.

While everyone waits, the Seahawks made a number of roster moves. Pete Carroll said that Lynch would not play on Sunday either way, so the team needed another running back. Seattle brought back running back Bryce Brown.

Brown had been with the Seahawks earlier in the season, but did not appear in any games. The large number of recent RB injuries around the league has greatly thinned the talent on the market.

Brown won’t be counted on to play a significant role unless there is another injury at the position. Rawls will get the bulk of the playing time, and Fred Jackson will pick up whatever is left.

To make room for Brown, the Seahawks waived DT. AJ Francis. Francis was added last week when the Seahawks released DT King.

Seattle also placed LB Nick Moody on injured reserve. Moody injured him hamstring on a special teams play against San Francisco last week. The Seahawks currently have just 5 healthy linebackers.

They added Eric Pinkins to the active roster last week after Bruce Irvin was injured. The could still add another LB, but have not done so. They also don’t have any LBs on the practice squad.

Moody’s roster spot was filled with WR BJ Daniels. There will likely be another roster move soon.  CB Jeremy Lane is set to come off the PUP list and play this week.
