FanSided’s NFL Draft Drinking Game

The official FanSided NFL Draft Drinking Game for 2016. Please drink responsibly, and listen for commenters making fun of Mel Kiper’s hair.

For some people the NFL Draft is a fascinating event. For everyone else, it is an excuse to consume copious amounts of adult beverages. If you’re part of that second group, we came up with a way to help add some spice to the event.

We now present to you, the official FanSided 2016 NFL Draft drinking game. What makes it official? Well, after I wrote it, I passed it along to the network higher-ups and they made me a super-sweet graphic with “FanSided” at the top. Sounds pretty damn official to me.

What you’ll need

• A steady supply of alcoholic beverages
• A TV tuned to ESPN’s live draft coverage
• A copy of the rules below

That’s it. Once you’re set up and ready to go, the there’s only one thing left to remember. A drink is not a sip, unless you’re drinking hard liquor. Remembering this should make any “Bottoms up” situations a little more tolerable.

Take one drink

• A trade is completed. Add one additional drink for each veteran player included.
• Someone mentions Mel Kiper’s hair
• Someone is described as a “plug and play starter”
• Roger Goodell hugs a player
• Johnny Manziel is mentioned
• A player is described as being a good value pick
• A player is described as “productive”
• Some says “in the trenches”
• A player is called “a difference maker”
• John Gruden loves a player

Take two drinks

• A commentator mentions another commentators suit
• Tim Tebow is mentioned as a player (not as a commentator)
• Someone uses the phrase “football IQ”
• A QB is drafted in round 1 other than Goff or Wentz
• A player is called a “winner”
• Hear the words “long arms” or “small hands”
• Kiper and McShay have an argument

Take three drinks

• Someone screws up the home city for the Rams (LA vs STL)
• A white receiver is compared to Wes Welker, or is called “sneaky athletic”
• A player’s arrest record is mentioned
• Someone mentions Donald Trump

Finish it!

• Roger Goodell walks on stage and isn’t boo’d
• News breaks that a current NFL player has been arrested
