Trevone Boykin is the second Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback prospect to have legal problems this week. It is becoming an epidemic.

Let’s just say it has been a bad week for potential backup QBs for the Seattle Seahawks. For some reason, they can’t seem to keep from getting in trouble with the law.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, Trevone Boykin was charged with assault today. The incident in question was a bar fight the week of the Alamo Bowl.

Of course this comes a just a few days after Tarvaris Jackson was arrested for apparently pointing a loaded gun at his wife and threatening to kill her. Of course the fun part of that story, besides absolutely nothing, was that his wife saying that Jackson better be more accurate than he is on the field.

Boykin had been impressing the Seahawks with his play in OTAs and the team’s minicamp. There was a growing feeling both in and out of the VMAC that Boykin was going to end up at the team’s backup QB this season.

There’s no telling how these charges will play into the competition for that spot, but it is obvious that this new development won’t help Boykin in any way.

With their top 2 choices for backup QB having bad weeks, there’s a reasonable chance that the Seahawks will simply declare that Russell Wilson isn’t allowed to get hurt. That’ll work, won’t it?

Given the week Seattle backup QBs are having, I have just one question: Has anyone seen Jake Heaps recently?

I’m guessing the Seahawks have him locked in a bunker somewhere in an effort to make sure he stays out of trouble. They need to make sure he stays happy though, or he’s likely to try and transfer to another team like he repeatedly did in college.
