Report: Pete Carroll extension finally signed

According to a report, the Seattle Seahawks and Pete Carroll have signed a contract extension that’ll keep him in Seattle through at least the 2019 season.

Two days ago, the Seattle Seahawks locked up general manager John Schneider. That was great news for Seattle fans, but as I said then, the job was only half finished. Today, they completed that task by signing Pete Carroll to an extension as well.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter had the story first:

Contract terms are unknown at this time, but there is no doubt that Carroll will be one of the highest paid coaches in NFL history. It is tough for anyone to argue that he isn’t deserving.

Carroll took over an old and un-athletic team that had only won nine games in the previous two seasons combined. It was also saddled with a large number of terrible contracts.

Under Carroll’s leadership, the Seahawks have made the playoff in five of his six seasons. They’ve also won at least one playoff game in each of those years.

Seattle is now one of the new teams that is routinely dominant every season. They are currently the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons. Pete Carroll might be the NFL’s oldest head coach, but there’s no doubt that he’s also one of the best.

So lets all celebrate by watching perhaps the greatest Pete Carroll gif ever made:

Lets face it, it just doesn’t get any better than that.
