We take a look at who passed, failed, and barely skated by during the preseason with our Seattle Seahawks preseason grades.

The preseason is in the books and 53 man rosters are being finalized. Game plans are about to be installed and things kick off for real on September 11th for the Seahawks when they host the Miami Dolphins at CenturyLink Field.

Ideally, every football fan wants to see key players for their team at the top of their games during the practice season. You want the starting defense to be stout and for the number one offense to put together easy, efficient drives.

That didn’t always happen this year for the Hawks.

But as we transition from the preseason to the uber intensity of the real thing, let’s look back and hand out a few grades….focusing on a few key players and position groups.

QB RUSSELL WILSON:

We all expected Wilson to come out and carve up opposing defenses like they were mismatches on Madden. Instead, the first team offense mostly struggled. Wilson was called out by Pete Carroll for holding the ball too long and taking bad sacks in the opener against Kansas City (during which he threw a really bad interception in the end zone), and in the next three games he failed to consistently lead drives.

All indications are that Wilson had an exceptional offseason, and looked like a world-beater in practice. The issues during the games could have been related to breaking in a new offensive line and a young stable of running backs. He was also without Jimmy Graham.

So we’ll give him a break for that, but we still wish we had seen more preseason production out of him.
