The Seattle Seahawks lost a game to the New Orleans Saints that they had no business losing.

It should have ended like this. A lot of factors combined to upend the Seattle Seahawks 20-25 against the New Orleans Saints. This was a game that the Seahawks had no business losing.

Now the Seahawks have a long flight back to Seattle before they can begin to unravel what went wrong. Some of it was correctable mistakes. Some of it was completely out of their control.

Here are my five biggest takeaways from today’s disappointing loss:

1. No new injuries!

The Seahawks are seriously banged up right now. On both sides of the ball they’re stretched thin because of guys who aren’t healthy. Luckily, the Seahawks escaped this week without any new injuries. Perhaps now they can start to get healthy.

Russell Wilson played without his ankle tape this week for the first time since week 1. He looked slightly quicker, and is starting to get some of his mobility back. He’s still wearing the knee brace, but any returned mobility will help with as bad as Seattle’s offensive line has been.

Tyler Lockett is also out of his knee brace, and looked much more like himself than he has since Week 2. Together with Wilson, getting Lockett back to full speed will greatly help Seattle’s offense.

Now the Seahawks need to start getting guys back. Kam Chancellor and Thomas Rawls will both provide a nice boost for the Seahawks. The same goes for Luke Willson, but he’s likely out for at least one more week.
