The Seahawks lost a disappointing road game vs the New Orleans Saints, but there are still some positive aspects of the game, even on offense.

All of us would have enjoyed celebrating a big win on Sunday, but that just wasn’t the case.  The Seahawks lost 25-20, and instead of thinking of the negatives, I’m going to focus on the things that the Seahawks’ offense did well.  Here are some of the players that stood out in a good way.

CJ Prosise had a really big game and will look to build on his breakout performance.  He ran for 23 yards on 4 carries, but his biggest contribution came as a receiver out of the backfield.  He led the team in receiving yards with 80 yards on 4 catches, which included a huge 43-yard catch.

Paul Richardson made two nice catches and showed us that he still has the speed to kill.  He finished with 33 yards, but his 23-yard catch really stood out.  He was able to juke a defender and use his speed to gain extra yards.  Watch for Richardson to use this game to gain some confidence going forward.

Tanner McEvoy continues to make big plays, and on Sunday he threw a 43-yard pass to Prosise, which led to a touchdown the next play.  McEvoy, a former QB at Wisconsin, is a player that can contribute in so many ways.  Against Arizona he showed his impact on special teams, and on Sunday he was a part of the Seahawks’ biggest play on offense.

George Fant also deserves some recognition.  He didn’t have a great game, and had a couple bad penalties.  But, for a player who hasn’t started a game since Pee Wee football, he did an admirable job stepping in.  I’m excited for his potential long term, as he will keep getting better with each game he plays in.

Nick Vannett recorded his first career reception, which went for 7 yards.  He has overcome an early season high ankle sprain, and has come back strong to make a contribution to the offense.  Keep an eye on Vannett, as his snaps will continue to increase, and he will play a big role later on in the season.

It’s easy to see the negatives on offense, but there are always positives to any game.  Prosise, Richardson, McEvoy, Fant, and Vannett all had performances that have me excited for the future of this team and this season.  I truly believe that the offense will turn this thing around and have success in the second half of the season.
