The Seattle Seahawks were once again in the playoffs in 2016; 2017 will have a difficult schedule; at least, the NFC West does not look good overall

The Seattle Seahawks had one less home game than they wanted to last season. With a win over the Arizona Cardinals – any win at all over the Cardinals, that is – the Seahawks could have very easily been playing the Atlanta Falcons at home in the playoffs. Home field advantage is extremely important to all NFL teams. That said, CenturyLink is the lifeblood that has carried the current makeup of the Seahawks to unparalleled franchise success.

This year’s home schedule is favorable on paper. The road schedule is much tougher.

These are the home and away opponents for the Seahawks:

Home: Arizona, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco, Washington, Philadelphia, Houston, Indianapolis and Atlanta

Away: Arizona, Rams, San Francisco, Dallas, New York Giants, Tennessee, Jacksonville and Green Bay

This is the weekly schedule with opponent, date, time and TV channel (* denotes prime time game):

Two short thoughts

That is four prime time games for the Seahawks. Three coming in a four week span.

The Seahawks will play a lot of 2016 playoff teams. Not all of those teams will be as good, of course. Still, going to Green Bay and Dallas can be expected to be tough ones. Tennessee should also be better. Jacksonville might possibly improve one of these years as well. The Giants can be better than in 2016. If the Seahawks can go 4-4 on the road, they should get in the playoffs, though.
