Richard Sherman is one of several Seattle Seahawks players who uses his fame and fortune for something good. He was recently honored in Compton for being a hero for many young students. Richard does much more than keep players from scoring and intercept passes. In fact, he’s very involved with the town of Seattle. He hasn’t forgotten where he plays.

Sherman Busy with Charity

While Sherman is busy on the field these days with training and getting ready for the new season, he’s also busy with his own charity. Richard launched Blanket Coverage, his own charity, a few years ago. Through this charity, Sherman proves students in low-income communities and neighborhoods with supplies and clothing so they can get an education. And this week, Richard thanked his Twitter followers for buying his merchandise, as they directly help him help others.

Richard Sherman launched Blanket Coverage about four years ago. Based on the website’s coverage, it sounds like the charity is one that is very personal to him.

"Blanket Coverage, the Richard Sherman Family Foundation, was formed in 2013 by Richard Sherman to provide students in low-income communities with school supplies and clothing so they can more adequately achieve their goals.Since forming Blanket Coverage, Richard Sherman and the Blanket Coverage team have made it their mission to provide school supplies for students across America. Richard has visited several elementary and high schools, speaking to the student body on making the world a better place than when they entered it."

Of course, Sherman wants to pay his own success forward. One can imagine that a charity to provide school supplies and clothing is his way of doing this. Reminding people to shop his merchandise and donate to his charity now is great timing. New students starting in September can get clothing and supplies to make the best of the new school year.

What do you think of Richard Sherman giving his charity a little boost as the new season is about to start in September?
