For the Seahawks, all the interesting games this week happen at the same time, and all of them are on Fox. Fox’s 3 late games are the ones that will decide who gets the 2, 3 and 5 seeds in the NFL playoffs. Seattle’s game is one in this group. The others are Packers-Vikings and 49ers-Cardinals.

Over on CBS you can find the AFC games. The 6 playoff teams are decided, but none of the seedings are. The Indy-Houston game in the morning should be a good one. For my money though, I’d rather watch Ravens-Bengals, but thats just me.

Instead, this week we finally get a choice. The problem is the games kind of stink Dallas-Cinci? really? I can assure the NFL that no one in Seattle really want to see Dallas play. Ever. San Diego-Pittsburgh isn’t much better. I love watching the Steelers lose, but the Chargers are so bad this year that it isn’t likely to happen in this game.

I really wish we could get the Baltimore-Washington game. Usually I try to avoid games with NFC East teams out of principle, but that game should be a good one, and the Seahawks could really use a Washington loss. Too bad that it wont be on in our area.

As for the games, the Seahawks play in the morning time slot. The game on the other channel, the one we’ll only see if we change the channel during commercials, is actually a pretty goof game. Miami and New England are both decent teams, and both teams that we know pretty well since the Seahawks have already played both.

The afternoon game also doesn’t disappoint. Seahawks fans always love to see the Steelers lose, and they almost certainly will to the Ravens this week. It’s always fun. And hopefully this loss with help the Steelers miss the playoffs this season.

The afternoon game, 49ers – Saints, will be an interesting game. Even if you hate both teams (like I do) it’ll still be interesting because of what it means to the Seahawks. A Saints win get Seattle close enough that the Seahawks could win the NFC West. A 49er win creates some separation between the Seahawks and one of the top contenders for a Wild Card spot. It’ll be interesting either way.

San Diego-Denver should be a decent game. The Broncos are the better team and have the better record, but the Chargers are playing for their season at this point, and Norv Turner has to turn this team around or he will likely never be a head coach again in the NFL. The drama will be interesting, even if the game turns out not to be.

The other game the Seattle are gets is the Detroit-GreenBay game. I don’t expect to see much defense in this game, but there’s always something entertaining about a game with more than 70 combined games.

The only other game we get is the Denver – Cinci game. The Bengals are underrated, so it could be interesting. Then again, if you’re tired on the Peyton Manning “comeback” story than you probably don’t want to watch that game either. Personally  I’d rather watch the Packers clobber the Cardinals, but that on the other network.

That seems backwards to me. I’d hate to be the network with only 1 game, and trying to compete against Seahawk game. That just seems like a bad idea.

So just 2 games this week, and one of them is the Seahawk’s game. The other is Cowboys-Ravens, which could be interesting to you depending on your thoughts on the Cowboys. The Ravens are one fo the few genuinely good teams in the NFL, and should be fun to watch.

I have to admit, I completely forgot that the Seahawks played in the late time slot this week. Road game on the east coast, how could it not be an early game? Well, it’s not. The Seahawks play in the late slot, which makes for a poor day of football if you wanted to see the best games.

Cleveland at the Giants will be a one sided affair. I can’t imagine the Browns not getting blown out here, and those of us the the Pacific NW don’t get another game in the early time slot. This will be a good time to get your lawn mowed, or whatever else you have to get done today.

The late game, New England at Denver, will be much more interesting, but since that game airs opposite the Seahawks game, none of us will be able to watch it.

On a side note the NFL’s TV rules remain an inconsistent mystery to me.  When CBS caries the Seahawks, all of Oregon is considered part of Seahawks local viewing area. When Fox has the game, like this week, the Southern half of Oregon seems to get the 49er game about 60% of the time. Pretty annoying for any Seahawks fan that’s South of Salem.

As for the games the Seattle area does get to watch this weekend, I’m not sure the fascination the NFL has with the Jets-Chiefs game. That’s not a particularly interesting game either Patriots-Skins or Texans-Bangles will be more fin to watch and likely would get higher ratings in our area. Oh well. At least the other 2 games are the best games in their time slot. I guess we can’t win them all.
