Grey Ruegamer Waived

The Seahawks waived guard Grey Ruegamer today, replacing him by claiming Brian De La Puente, a versatile offensive lineman from Kansas City. It is likely that Ruegamer, who had just recovered from an elbow injury, was replaced because of his inability to stay healthy. He struggled to stay on the field during training camp and was unable to play in exhibition games against San Diego and Denver.
Grey Ruegamer played along the interior of the offensive line, but has not been much of a contributor. His departure comes while the Seahawks are shuffling their lineup, once again, to replace the injured Chris Spencer.
Ruegamer is replaced in the lineup by Brian De La Puente, a 24-year old lineman in his second year in the NFL. De La Puente is 6’2”, 308 pounds and can play either guard or tackle; versatility is something the coaching staff values in reserve offensive linemen.
De La Puente was most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he did not appear in any games during the 2008 regular season.
