Seahawks: Lawyer Milloy Signs, Brian Russell Cut

facebooktwitterreddit

"It’s official…. I’m a Seahawk! Let’s Go!!!"

That is Lawyer Milloy’s last Twitter update from about a half hour ago.

NFL.com is reporting that the Seahawks have agreed with the veteran safety, reuniting him with head coach Jim Mora in Seattle. Milloy, who attended the University of Washington, also stays close to home.

The roster addition comes at a cost; there is also a report that safety Brian Russell will be among the Seahawks cut today.

Russell was ordinary at best at safety, so it isn’t a huge surprise the team made a change. The cut is, however, just a little unexpected.

Dropping Russell likely clears space for rookie safety Courtney Greene to make the 53-man roster. It was reported earlier today by Peter King that Tim Ruskell was going to retain all of Seattle’s draft picks.

From King’s Twitter page:

"Sea runs too much 3-wide to whack Branch. Ruskell also says entire draft class will be kept at cutdown."

In addition to Greene, this would also mean that Cameron Morrah makes the roster as the third tight end over Joe Newton.

A few minor surprises, but nothing else official from the Seahawks yet. And isn’t it amazing how much news can be acquired by following Twitter updates?
