After the “mock game” practice today in training camp, the Seahawks made a roster move. The team signed former Arizona Cardinal WR Early Doucet, and waived/injured DE Kenneth Boatright.
Doucet is a 6-0, 212 lb. slot receiver who managed just 27 reception for 208 yards in 2012. While that is unimpressive, keep in mind that the dumpster fire of Ryan Lindley and John Skelton were the QBs throwing passes for the at team.
Before you ask, no, I don’t think he’s here to possibly fill the punt and kick return duties with Percy Harvin out. Doucet has just one punt return in his career (week 2 last season vs NE, for 18 yards), and has never returned a kick.
The Seahawks have now added 3 former Cardinals this year: Doucet, LB O’Brian Schofield, and WR Stephen Williams.
Boatright was an undrafted free agent pass rusher who had impressed the coaches during the offseason program. He’d failed to make the same impression so far in camp, and has been out the last few days.
Greg Herd, who was waived/injured yesterday, cleared waivers and was placed on injured reserve.
Pete Carroll also announced that Sydney Rice will be back on the field on Sunday.
