By now, most of the nation has seen or heard of Richard Sherman’s postgame interview with FOX reporter Erin Andrews after the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC title game.
According to Sherman’s agent, Jamie Fritz, the internet is not the only thing buzzing about Sherman’s rant on Sunday. Advertisers, says Fritz, are looking at Sherman’s interview as a gateway to possible endorsements.
Fritz believes that millions of dollars in endorsements will be signed by Sherman in the upcoming weeks, according to an article on CNNMoney.
“We have some new players who have come to the table who are starting the conversation,” Fritz said in the article.
Fritz also said that it doesn’t really matter what happens in the Super Bowl — in regards to Sherman — because his client will still be on the minds of potential advertisers.
“Win or lose, I don’t think it changes the landscape of opportunities for Richard Sherman this offseason,” he said to CNNMoney.
Sherman is currently endorsed by a few companies, most notably Beats by Dre and Nike. Altogether, his total endorsements equal a little more than his $555,000 salary, according to NFL.com.
He is scheduled to make $645,000 in 2014 because he is still in his rookie deal. It can be anticipated that he will be making a lot more than that when it’s time for him to sign a new contract.
