Eli the Ape and Buffett the Manatee have spoken.
Technically, neither animal has “said” anything, but their predictions of the Super Bowl winner have taken center stage because of how eerily accurate they have been in the past years.
Eli the Ape, who lives in a zoo in Utah, predicted on Thursday that the Seahawks will take home the Lombardi trophy when they play the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
According to the Seattle P-I, Eli “knocked down a papier-mache helmet bearing the Seahawks logo, signaling his pick.” That might be great news for Seahawks fans — Eli hasn’t been wrong in his Super Bowl prediction since 2006.
Earlier in the week, however, Buffett the Manatee had other thoughts. He predicted the the Broncos would win the Super Bowl. The manatee made his decision by swimming toward a Broncos logo, and he hasn’t been wrong about the Super Bowl winner in the past six years.
Something has to give right?
To make the manatee story even more entertaining, Buffett’s roommate (or tank-mate if you will) chose the Seahawks as the winner. Hugh the Manatee has been accurate in four of the last six Super Bowls.
Two other psychic animals also picked the Super Bowl winner this week — both picked the Seahawks.
Teddy Bear the Porcupine from Dallas correctly picked the last two Super Bowls and has Seattle winning it all this year. So does Fred the Psychic Bunny, though he incorrectly predicted the San Francisco 49ers would win last year.
We will find out in two days if the animals are right. Hopefully, all but Buffett the Manatee are.
