Vernon Davis: Russell Wilson is best QB ‘who doesn’t throw me passes’

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was featured on The MMQB with Peter King on Monday morning, where he spoke a little about his thoughts regarding the Seahawks.

Davis complimented the Seahawks and called Russell Wilson “the best” quarterback who doesn’t play for the 49ers:

"I think among the 31 NFL quarterbacks who don’t throw me passes, Russell Wilson is the best. He’s got all the tools; ability to keep the play alive, and he’s very accurate with a strong arm. He exemplifies what it takes to be a winning QB in the NFL. If you asked me to choose based on record and experience, I’ll take Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, but in terms of right now, my pick is Wilson."

Wilson captured a Super Bowl championship in just his second season in the league and he holds a career 3-2 record against San Francisco, including the postseason, in his short career.

He has the most wins in his first two years in the league in NFL history and he has completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 6,475 yards, while throwing 52 touchdown passes with only 19 interceptions.

Davis also used his time to talk about the NFC Championship game, which he said “Richard Sherman correctly described as the real Super Bowl.”

The Seahawks had one of the best defenses in league history in 2013 and held the Denver Broncos to only eight points in Super Bowl XLVIII.

“Kudos to the Seahawks,” Davis continued, “who won a Super Bowl with a defense that isn’t as simple as the players like to boast. I don’t know about the rest of their opponents, but they spent a lot of effort mixing up coverages against us.”

The Seahawks and 49ers are expected to compete for the NFC title again this season. They will face off on Nov. 27 and Dec. 14, two games that could very well decide the champion of the division.
