Yes, I know Colin Kaepernick wasn’t taken in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he made his starting debut in 2012; he was basically a rookie.

Kaepernick captivated 49ers fans and NFL fans alike at the end of the 2012 season with his rocket launcher of an arm and his running ability (he ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at the 2011 NFL combine). But Kaepernick still lacks the accuracy and touch of Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees.

Just look at this play here (sorry for the quality):

I know this has been said a million times, but if that ball is lofted and thrown a little higher, Kaepernick is probably ahead of Russell Wilson on this rankings list and we’d probably be talking about how great the 49ers are.

Colin Kaepernick still has a lot to prove — statistically he wasn’t elite but got a $126 million, $61 million guaranteed contract. He has to prove that he deserves that money next season, and anything less than a Super Bowl ring will be a disappointment for the 49ers.
