Popularity Hasn’t Helped Dallas Cowboys On The Field

The Dallas Cowboys are perennially the most popular team in the NFL. This tells us two things: First, the Cowboys have fiercely loyal fans. Second, Jerry Jones fully understands the importance of brand recognition. He’s not just a pretty face folks.

More from Seattle Seahawks News

So what happened to the Dallas faithful Sunday against the Houston Texans?

Houston fans were able to get tickets from Dallas ticket holders. And they made their presence felt and clearly heard. Tony Romo had to use hand signals just to get a play off. Remember, this was IN DALLAS! Houston, motivated by the support, almost pulled off the win.

Can’t wait to hear the 12s Sunday. The Seahawks will take full advantage of the noise. Of course in terms of motivation, Pete Carroll does his magic before kickoff. But Seattle rarely needs that kind of help. Against Dallas, motivation is easy to find.

– A popular attraction at “Jerry World” shows a guy with the ability to do impressions. Instead of using his voice, however, he imitates the way players play. He can be Ryan Leaf one minute, then turn into Philip Rivers the next. A rare talent indeed. On Sunday he’ll be in Seattle. I wonder who we’ll see.

– On Sunday, Tony Romo will again need hand signals. Seattle’s 12th Man will make Dallas and Romo uncomfortable. Expect a few false starts, as well as opportunities for The Legion.

– Although it’s hard for Dallas to accept, the days of Troy Aikman, Danny White, Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett, along with their wins, are long gone. Fans of Dallas wouldn’t dare sell their tickets to the opponent’s fans when those guys played. Sad.

– Dez Bryant acts like a dorf-wang most days. He is the leader of the NFL’s Prima Donna receivers. But the guy’s a terrific wide out. Most cornerbacks struggle with his height, strength and speed. Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor may see him a lot.

– Seattle can’t afford to start fast only to disappear for two quarters. Dallas has a much improved defense, able to cause issues for a struggling offensive line. Sunday’s game will help determine just how much Dallas has improved.

– Obviously I’m taking Seattle over Dallas for the game this Sunday.

My score prediction is Seattle 31, Dallas 21. It will be a great match up, 12s!

GO HAWKS!
