Days after the Seattle Seahawks shipped their former top receiver to the New York Jets for a conditional pick, Harvin opened his silence to the media regarding the trade.
The Seahawks reportedly wanted Harvin out of the locker room because he had a number of confrontations with his Seahawks teammates.
One report said he body-slammed Golden Tate before last season’s Super Bowl, another said he tried fighting Russell Wilson for not throwing him the ball enough, and still another said he tried fighting Doug Baldwin in a separate argument.
But Harvin denies those allegations, according to the NFL Network’s Albert Breer:
The Seahawks seem to think otherwise and one report called Harvin “toxic” in Seattle’s locker room.
But not everyone was excited to see Harvin go.
Marshawn Lynch reportedly was so upset he didn’t want to get on the team’s bus to the airport ahead of Sunday’s game in St. Louis.
And Wilson apparently wanted more time to try to help Harvin through his anger issues, via ESPN’s Chris Mortensen:
Nevertheless, Harvin is in New York now and the Seahawks are 3-3, rapidly trying to find the identity that led them to last season’s Super Bowl.
The Seahawks certainly have an uphill battle in the NFC West with only 10 games left to play. The division-leading Arizona Cardinals are 5-1 and they need to cool off quickly if Seattle has any chance of catching them.
The Seahawks’ next game will be on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers (3-3-1).
A loss would be the first time Seattle’s record fell under .5oo since Week 1 of the 2012 season.
