Kam Chancellor is the NFC Defensive Player of the Week
By Paul Novak
The 2014 season didn’t start the way that Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor would have liked for it to start. An ankle injury contributed to poor play early in the season, which then contributed to early losses to the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. Chancellor has also battled hip and groin injuries which caused him to miss to games.

Having now played in the past two games, that all appears to behind him as the Pro Bowl safety has earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his play in Seattle’s win over the division leading Arizona Cardinals last Sunday.
The Seahawks defense played probably their best game of the season, allowing just three points to the Cardinals and limiting them to just 204 total yards on offense. Chancellor’s 8 tackles don’t jump off the stat sheet but his play was a huge reason for Seattle’s defense looking like last year’s unit against a team that still has the NFL’s best won-loss record.
Kam Chancellor was also named the Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season after a win in the Super Bowl rematch against the Denver Broncos.
Next up for the Seahawks is a Thursday Night Football matchup against the hated NFC West Rival San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.
