Seahawks Safety Earl Thomas Channels Karate Kid
By Paul Novak
The Seattle Seahawks won Sunday’s game against the Rams, 20-6, and secured the #1 seed throughout the playoffs.
This means that the furthest they will have to travel in the postseason is to Glendale, Arizona – for the Super Bowl.
Even though the Hawks won by a healthy two TD margin, the game was much closer than it would seem. Especially in the first half.
One of the key plays in the game came when Earl Thomas caught up to a Rams runner who was just inches from a touchdown and freakin’ karate chopped the ball out of his hands and into the end zone. The play turned a would-be Rams touchdown into a touchback and gave the good guys possession.
If it isn’t clear yet, the awareness that Thomas showed on this play alone should prove he’s the best free safety in the game.
Extras:
- Seattle won it’s second straight NFC West title with the Week 17 win.
- Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers have parted ways after four seasons. It appears he’ll be headed to Michigan.
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the 1st overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. They need a QB, and many think this years class doesn’t have a franchise guy.
- The Seahawks finished the most impressive 5-game winning streak in NFL history according to opponent winning percentage.
