2015 NFL Draft: Needs and Targets for the Seattle Seahawks
By Thomas Oide
Target #5 Arik Armstead, DE/DT, University of Oregon
Dec 5, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Arizona Wildcats running back Nick Wilson (28) is defended by Oregon Ducks defensive end Arik Armstead (9) in the Pac-12 Championship at Levi’s Stadium
2014 Stats: 34 total tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble
The stats aren’t exactly eye-popping, but don’t let them fool you. Armstead is a 6 foot 8, 290 pound, physical beast.
A former power forward for his high school basketball team, Armstead has the strength and speed to fit right into the Seahawks defensive line unit.
Don’t believe me? Look no further than this sack of Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook. Armstead (number nine), utterly dominates the Spartan right guard which leads to a sack.
Put this kid with players like Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril, and he could easily turn into something special with the rare physical tools he has.
