By Keith Myers

Seattle wins and are on to the NFC Championship Game. We’ll find out who their opponent will be tomorrow when Green Bay takes on Dallas. Hopefully you enjoyed the live blog. If you’re finding this after the game, you’ll want to read it from the bottom up.
Final – Seattle wins 31-17
Ball at the 13, but Seattle in kneel-down mode.
Victory formation for Seattle. Seahawks become the first team since the 2005 New England Patriots to win a playoff game year after SB win.

Unger Hurt Again? Play was halted to help center Max Unger off the field. He was rolled up on by Colin Cole, and was limping noticeably. It doesn’t look serious, but it will be worth watching this week to make sure he is ok.
Unger milling about on the sidelines... didn't go to the trainers table.

Carolina scores – The Seahawks have backed off on defense, and Carolina was able to move the ball down the field in garbage time and get back within two touchdowns with 2:34 left to play. Seattle’s success on offense looked sharp after the first couple of drives, and most of that is because of Wilson. He played great tonight, especially on third down.
Wilson is 8 for 8 on third down, including all three TD passes.

Here’s another one. Twitter is bringing their A game tonight.
Check Marshawn. He doesn't have to score himself to grab his junk RT @markschnurle: caught this on the replay http://t.co/D4MOri3X3t

I love this sign so much, especially after Kam’s pick-6.

Touchdown Seahawks! Game over. Carolina was driving, but a Kam Chancellor picks off Newton and take it too the house.

Touchdown Seahawks! Russell Wilson to Luke Wilson on third down. Seattle now leads by two touchdowns.
Touchdown. Wilson to Willson! https://t.co/fJcmbz7oMM
— Keith Myers (@MyersNFL) January 11, 2015
Seahawks looking to pull away After getting a field goal and extending the lead to 7, they forced a three and out. Seattle takes over near midfield with a chance to extend the lead to two scores for the first time. One more score and one more stop likely wins this for Seattle.
Luke Willson with a big gain, keeps his feet as the Panthers tried to rip the ball out of his hands. Seattle to the Carolina 25.

End of Quarter 3 The Seahawks finally got the running game going. Lynch and Turbin both had some good runs, and Lynch had a huge run early in the drive to get the Seahawks into FG range. A Wilson sack has the drive stalled. FG try coming. Carolina can’t finish Avril sacks Newton to end the drive, Seattle takes over at their own 12 yardline. Carolina is picking on Simon on this drive. Every pass is going his way, and it is working. Benjamin and Olsen both winning against Simon right now.
Richardson doubtful to return with a knee injury.

Richardson Injured Rookie wide receiver Paul Richardson was hurt on Seattle’s first drive. It looked like a sprained knee, but he was up and walking with only a slight limp afterwards. Wilson was sacked one play later, and the Seahawks were forced to punt on their first drive. They still lead 14-10. Top Performers from 1st half: Halftime Stats: Halftime – After no offense in the first quarter, but teams moved the ball well in the second period. Seattle got the better of things slightly. Carolina answered with a long drive at the end of the half. Earl Thomas picked off Newton at the 2 yard line, but the play was reviewed and overturned. Carolina ended up trying a FG, and cutting Seattle’s lead to 14-10. Kam Chancellor blocked it once, but they called a penalty on the play. On the next chance, they got the kick.
I’ll post some stats here in a minute. But first here’s the non-pick:
Earl Thomas interception. Being reviewed though https://t.co/hAHKgZS75Z

Two Minute Warning This game is going by quickly. We’re 2 minutes from halftime. Seattle up 14-7, but Carolina is threatening once again. Seattle Answers Back! Wilson to Kearse for long touchdown. Good throw. Better catch. Seattle back up 14-7
Big touchdown. Kearse and Wilson are ridiculous. https://t.co/F9pKM90wcc
— Keith Myers (@MyersNFL) January 11, 2015
Carolina Answers Following Seattle’s TD, the Panthers drove the length of the field. Newton hit Benjamin for a 7-yard TD to get Carolina even. Richard Sherman had an interception hit him in the hands earlier in the drive, but he dropped it. Seattle’s defense needs to make those plays and get off the field. End of First Quarter. Seattle up 7-0, but Carolina moving the ball. Fumble! Then a Touchdown! Michael Bennett forced it. Tony McDaniel recovered it. Seattle takes over with good field position. Just a few plays later, this happened:

Seahawks Offense show some life Following the pick, Seattle moved the ball, including a 34 yard pass from Wilson to Kearse.

Unfortunately, Richardo Lockette’s personal foul penalty knocked them out of FG range.
You've got to be kidding me! That costs Seattle points. Lockette can't do that. pure awful. #SEAvsCAR

Richard Sherman Interception!

More of the Same: Seattle moving backwards now. 1st a penalty on Lane, then a false start. Wilson also had Helfet open, but pressure caused Wilson to overthrow the pass.
Sweezy whiffed on Kuechly there.
— Stephen Cohen (@scohenATH) January 11, 2015
More Defense: Carolina can’t do anything again. Going backwards, and they should have had a grounding penalty on third down.
Should have been grounding. https://t.co/ZpnjVZRj5i
— Keith Myers (@MyersNFL) January 11, 2015
Seattle’s first Drive: Seahawks get 2 quick completions to get across midfield, but 2 Lynch runs get 1 total yard and Seattle has to punt.
James Carpenter vs. Kenwaan Short. Short one twice and the drive ended. that's a matchup to watch today. #SEAvsCAR
— 12th Man Rising (@12thMan_Rising) January 11, 2015
Carolina’s first Drive: 3 and out for the Panthers. Likely could have been a pick on 3rd down as well.
Seahawks open up with Tharold Simon starting opposite Kelvin Benjamin. Byron Maxwell is not on the field.

Pregame, but getting close:
Marshawn Lynch sprinted off the bench, jogged onto the field to shake the hand of India Arie, who sung the national anthem.

Seahawks appear to be in all-blue uniforms for today’s game, in case anyone was interested. Also, lots of former Seahawks in attendance:

Not many suprises here. There was some hope that Moeaki would play, but after testing things pregame he was ruled out. The other big piece of news here is the Landon Cohen is inactive. That means that Dobbs won the competition this week and will take Jordan Hill’s snaps at DT. For Carolina there also aren’t any surprises. Star Lotulelei is a big loss, but that’s been something that’s been expected all week. He broke a bone in his foot in practice on Tuesday, and won’t play again until next season.
48 degrees and 89% humidity at CenturyLink Field … it’s misty.
