The Seahawks will play the NFC West six times, AFC North four times and the NFC North four times. To round out the schedule, they will play the Carolina Panthers at home for the first time since the 2010 season. The last three years the two teams have played in Carolina with the Seahawks winning all three. They will face the Dallas Cowboys for the third time in the last four years, but the first time in Texas since 2009.
Based on 2014 results, the Seahawks will have the NFL’s fourth toughest schedule in 2015. The Seattle opponents had a combined .559 winning percentage in the 2014 season. In the NFC West, all four teams are tough to play against even though the records may not reflect it. The other three teams in the West had a combined record of 25-23.
The NFC West the last few years has become one of the toughest divisions in the league which is far removed from the 2010 season when it was the laughing stock of the league. That year the Seahawks made the post season with a record of 7-9. Since the end of 2010, the Seahawks have gone 43-21.
Let’s look at the AFC North first as that division had a record of 38-25-1. Three of the four teams in the division, the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals, all made the postseason. All four teams were in contention for most of the year until the Browns fell off late.
The NFC North will be tough as it always has been. The overall record was 35-29, 11 of those losses belonging to the Bears. The Lions and Packers both made the playoffs and the Vikings are a team on the rise. Who knows what is going on with the Bears?
Lastly, the Seahawks will be facing a team in the Panthers that made the postseason with a record of 7-8-1 and put up a pretty good fight in the playoffs. They will face a Cowboys team that went 12-4 last year and handed the Seahawks their only home loss of the year in 2014.
The schedule may look daunting, but the games still must be played. It all depends on when the games are played in the season and any injuries that may occur during the season.
